Employment Opportunity – Payroll Clerk (Non-Union Position)

Kunuwanimano Child and Family Services

Full-Time • Timmins Region

Location: Timmins, ON

Job type: Full Time - 35 hours per week

Closing Date: January 23, 2025

 

What you will do in the role

 

·         Compiles and processes data from time sheets and other information source documents i.e. time sheets, payroll adjustment etc. in a timely fashion and directly enters into the system all hours worked, miscellaneous adjustments and information to generate employees’ pay cheques.

·         Reconciles and balances the payroll for each pay period and ensures totals are complete and accurately balances to the general ledger.

·         Prepares all bi-monthly and monthly reports (i.e. Payroll Summary, FTE Report, etc.)

·         Prepares and checks payroll data for new employees, transfers, terminations and rate changes.

·         Performs calculations and adjustments for preparation of manual cheques by Finance, to process vacation advances, special adjustments etc.

·         Performs the necessary clerical duties required for the maintenance of employees’ records.

·         Collaborates with the Human Resources to ensure staff are paid correctly and timely with accurate and up to date information.

·         Performs reconciliation of accounts and makes remittances of amounts withheld such as Employer Health Tax, benefits, etc.

·         Ensures payroll accounting procedures are accurate and complete and comply with Auditors and Ministry requirements.

·         Ensures completion of all year-end payroll activities and procedures including T4’s and adheres to all year-end reporting requirements (C.R.A. and E.H.T.).

What you bring to the table

 

·         Diploma or degree in an accounting program, or equivalent (business related field of study such as Business administration, Commerce, or Finance) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·         Completion of the Canadian Payroll Associate Certificate considered an asset.

·         Minimum one (1) year payroll experience.

·         Knowledge of accounting principles is considered an asset.

·         Good working knowledge of Ontario & Federal Payroll Laws & Regulations.

·         Excellent computer application skills: Microsoft Office, word, Excel and other spreadsheet applications, PowerPoint, access, outlook etc.

·         Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now considered an asset.

·         Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

·         Excellent time management and organizational skills.

·         Ability to work independently with a minimal degree of supervision.

·         Ability to communicate in Cree/Ojibway an asset.
